Meet the Maker: Sanah Jain – Design Maison

Meet Sanah Jain, founder of Design Maison, a delightful one stop shop for all a beautiful array of stationery and branding accessories.  

When we asked the young, soft-spoken, studied, and very talented Sanah Jain of Design Maison what she might have been doing were she not doing quirky notebooks, calendars, customised gift tags, and other such objects of artistique expression for an eclectic set of people with a fine taste for unforgettable memories, she said something we never expected. Intrigued? Welcome to the beautiful world of Sanah Jain and Design Maison, our Maker we met this week.   

Please describe your brand in not more than 10 words

Design Maison is a delightful one stop shop for all a beautiful array of stationery and branding accessories.  

Where are you located?

We are based out of New Delhi. 

What were you doing before you started doing this?

I was completing my undergrad and working as part time graphic designer for my sister’s company.

Why did you choose to do what you do?

I’ve always been very artistic and helping with my sister with her graphics just made me realise how good I am at this. So I decided to venture out on this journey of discovery for myself.

We are fascinated by names. What’s the story behind your brand name?

There’s no such special story. I wanted to keep the name simple yet a little different so we clubbed the English word “ design “ and the French word “ Maison,“ which means house, and, voila, we had Design Maison! 

Which are your best selling products?

Our quirky notebooks, calendars, and customised gift tags are few of our best sellers and garner a little more love than some of our other popular items.

What kind of people do you create your products for?

Our products cater to a tasteful set of people of all ages. We have something lovely for everyone.  

What are the challenges you face in connection with achieving your goals?

Our challenges were quite similar to what any start-up would face which is standing out from the rest who are part of the same industry and I think we’ve overcome that pretty well.

Where do you see your brand three years from now?

I definitely see Design Maison increasing its presence online and offline and connecting with people from all part of the world.

Finally, what would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?

I would have been in the financial sector.
