How to go stationery this Diwali

The digital age was meant to put an end to stationery – but we still can't get enough of pens, notebooks and other stationery. Here are seven gorgeous reasons why.

Exercise and memo books, writing sets and endless rubbers, coloured pens and propelling pencils, Post-it Notes and fountain pens, highlighters in different hues, markers, envelopes all shapes and sizes, notebooks stapled (spiral-bound or sewn-spined) – we own and love them all. Truth be told, stationery never seems to go out of style. Buying stationery still makes us feel better. In a recession, you can still find something to suit your pocket and cheer you up. Speaking of which, here are seven delectable examples of what we mean. And since Diwali is almost here, now might be the perfect time to enjoy their company. Welcome.

CALLING CARD: A well-designed card with a thoughtful message is a nice thing to receive. This is a well-designed card by Jukebox Creations. Pen your thoughts in it and share with the intended recipient. It will be welcomed this Diwali and recalled fondly for Diwalis to come.

DEAR DIARY: Look what happens when Look What Happened put their heads together in the service of creating better stationery. When a diary is so inviting, thoughts will flow. And so will the thanks. You could do worse than consider this as a Diwali gift.

IN JAR: Inboxes are usually pretty humdrum. An imaginative ‘in jar’ like this one by Inside Out Innovative Designs, however, isn’t. It’s warm, it’s thoughtful, loving, and it makes for a wonderful Diwali gift. Get, erm, into it.

BOARD ROOM: Make a little room for this idea (and stimulator of ideas) in your home. Make this chalkboard by District 18 a part of your beautiful life this Diwali. You may also choose to make a gift of it for someone else.

FRUIT STICK: When your Apple is the light of your life, nothing less than the Apple lite by Sticky Fruit will do as an accessory. And if you happen to be a fan of the chronicles of Narnia, it makes for an even better story.

BOOK LOVE: If you love books, this is a Diwali purchase you may want to consider closely. If you love elegant bookmarks, this is a Diwali purchase you may want to look into properly. And for both these ifs, The Bling Stores is the place to go for more. This way, please.

STYLED STORAGE: Color Palatte demonstrate how to turn humdrum storage items into works of art that are useful too. This trendy box for things of various shapes and sizes is an inviting example of what we mean.

HIDDEN TREASURES: From quirky cards to arty storage boxes, we have a range of original offerings that span over 50 product categories, Put simply, Engrave has something for anyone who appreciates good taste, and ethical making practices. Welcome to the world of Engrave. Welcome to a handcrafted, personalised, and thoughtful world.
