India’s great Rajas come back to life in an exquisite deck of cards

A budding duo of graphic designers combined their love for Indian history and architecture and transformed an ordinary pack of playing cards into something that a collector would pride himself on possessing.

Meet Humbleraja, an up and coming venture in the world of playing cards. Confused? We’ll decode this for you. A budding duo of graphic designers combined their love for Indian history and architecture and transformed an ordinary pack of playing cards into something that a collector would pride himself on possessing. After introducing their product, the Kings of India pack, on kick-starter, they have received over 750 backers because this pack of cards “shares the marvels and monarchs of India’s history.” Education and recreation, all tied up in one neat stack of cards!

Say hello to Bhavesh and Reena, the brains behind HumbleRaja, who are Britain-born, Canadian residents. Inspired by their roots, they wanted to pay homage to India’s rich history with their Kings of India pack of playing cards. After having done their due diligence and research, they came up with the 4 dynasties from ancient Indian history and based their cards on them. Each card is unique, and a distinctive font was created for this pack of cards. Bringing back over 2300 years of India’s glorious history, this couple has resuurected the bygone eras with extreme panache.

The suits are fashioned around India’s four prominent dynasties.

You can expect to find marvelous illustrated details for each card based on actual research sourced from artifacts, sculptures and documented history.

The company also has a story to tell through its endearing Mr. Shah, a typical Indian, who is spotted in all their social media posts. Watch Mr. Shah in action as he travels through time, in his quirky and idiosyncratic fashion:

Mr. Shah, hard at work.

We can’t wait to get our hands on this deck, which is expected to hit the market in December 2015
