Meet the maker: Khyati Seth & Shubhi Kansal from Studio Kaeth
Crafting handmade products for people who appreciate the art of creativity and handcrafted ideas that tell stories, Studio Kaeth caters to an audience that is looking to bond with the products it uses.
“If not this, we would be continuing with our old jobs, wondering when will we have the guts to get up and challenge ourselves in the way that we are today, and dreaming of the day we would reach levels we already have accomplished and aiming for a lot more over the years.”

Crafting handmade products for people who appreciate the art of creativity and handcrafted ideas that tell stories, Studio Kaeth caters to an audience that is looking to bond with the products it uses. You can take a closer look at Studio Kaeth’s portfolio of explorations here.
Studio Kaeth was born on the 31st of August 2016, from the ideas of two friends and peers. The two founders shared a studio back in design school and decided to keep it going once they had completed school. Till date, Studio Kaeth has launched two collections – Colours of Joy and Mint. The workshop is located in Mumbai.
All the designs, operations, marketing and client meetings are handled by Khyati Seth and Shubhi Kansal. Depending on the nature of each project or collection, they seek inputs from freelancers and friends.
Khyati is 24 years old and Shubhi is 25 years old. They both studied Retails & Exhibition Design at the MIT Institute of Design. Studio Kaeth is a personal and professional space where they explore and push the boundaries of functional creativity.
“No matter what a design school teaches you or a job teaches you, entrepreneurial challenges can only be taught when at work. Our basic sensibility towards creative products has been a development with each passing project, assignment, creative challenge and various cultures and individuals we meet. We seek inspiration from the essence of empathy and functionality of a product.” – Khyati Seth & Shubhi Kansal of Studio Kaeth
The duo believes design is a very strong tool to make an impact of any sort. And that this is just the beginning of Studio Kaeth’s journey. They plan to launch at least two collections each year and look at themes that would enable the founders to collaborate with people from different walks of life. Apart from the constant need to be creative, timelines are what challenge the duo the most.
“It gets really difficult to cope with the zillion things we juggle within a day, thus, balancing between the store and projects to be handled can get a little stressful. Plus, since all the investments made into the business are from our savings, we have to be really skilled at the art of managing risks. But, we have definitely learned tips and tricks to get better at it since inception to now.”
Looking ahead, Studio Kaeth seeks to go global at some point in the future and persuade more people to support products that are functional, aesthetic, sustainable, eco-friendly, ethical and sensitive to the ethos of handcrafting.
We wish them well on this journey and look forward to being an integral part of it. Way to go, Khyati and Shubhi!
