“We put our heart and soul into Namshi. It can be best described as heartfelt and heartwarming.” This is how Shilpa Goel, founder of Namshi, describes the brand.

Namshi is based out of Noida. To help you get to know our Makers better, as part of our long-running Meet the Maker series of conversations, we chatted with Shilpa of Namshi. It made for interesting reading. We invite you to the conversation. Welcome.

What were you doing before you started doing this?

I have always been an artist. Even while I was working as a teaching professional, art was my heart and soul.

Why did you choose to do what you do?

It is my calling, it comes from within. It is why I do what I do.

We are fascinated by names. What’s the story behind your brand name?

The name Namshi is inspired by the name of my child and my own.

Which are your best selling products?

Our customers love our nameplates. They are our best-selling products.

What kind of people do you create your products for?

Namshi is for anyone with good taste and an interest in ethically made products.

What are the challenges you face in connection with achieving your goals?

Our greatest challenges are the lack of time to create all we want and the fact that, sometimes, people underestimate the amount of hard work that goes into creating each piece.

Where do you see your brand three years from now?

We strive to innovate continuously. Three years down the line, we see ourselves as more creative and more innovative. We are working hard to grow into a mature, strong brand and considering dabbling in other forms of artistic product creation. This is our vision for the next three years.

What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?

The way I see it, art is vast and welcoming to the persistent mind. So I think I’d be doing something art-related if not Namshi.
