Meet the Maker: Meeta Rana – Sukriti

Meeta, a school teacher by day, talks to us about her passion project, Sukriti, a trusted name and leader in handmade herbal body care products.

Based out of Gurgaon, Sukriti is a trusted name and leader in handmade herbal body care products. Every product from the Sukriti stables is free of any hazardous chemicals. Sukriti is a one-woman show. It was founded by Meeta Rana, who works as the Proprietor, Manager, Sales Executive, and anything else that needs to be done to nourish the brand. We chatted with Meeta in order to get to know her baby better. You are cordially invited to the conversation. Welcome.

 

What were you doing before you started doing this?

I was and am working as a teacher at a private school in Delhi. Sukriti is my passion, which I pursue in my after work hours.

 

Why did you choose to do what you do?

When I lost my husband to a fatal disease 3 years back, I felt quite lost in this world. I have the responsibility of 2 kids and a household to run. Wanted to do something which could be operated from home so that I can give time to my kids and also make some extra money. I had a few options before me, but I thought of this line as I am a nature lover and herbal products are environmentally friendly. Doing new experiments with natural ingredients is fun and I am passionate about them.


We are fascinated by names. What’s the story behind your brand name?

Sukriti is a blend of 2 Hindi words: Su – means beautiful. Kriti – means creation. So, Sukriti means “beautiful creation.” I want every human being regardless of their age to feel beautiful about themselves. We all are beautiful creations of God and we all should pamper ourselves.

 

Which are your best selling products?

My best selling products are Gold face wash, Lavender body wash, Red Wine body wash, Bhringraj Shampoo, Neem Turmeric Aloe Vera face wash, Arabic Oudh soap, Musk soap, Saffron soap.

 

What kind of people do you create your products for?

My products are very reasonably priced, which makes them suitable for many pockets. And the way my products are made makes them appealing to consumers with a conscience and desire to lead more healthy and eco-friendly choices.  

 

What are the challenges you face in connection with achieving your goals?

There is a lot of competition and clutter in the market. Many people are doing herbal products these days. It becomes difficult to convince people that we are the best and our products are value for money. Still, we endeavor to work hard and serve our clients to the utmost.

 

Where do you see your brand three years from now?

My desire and goal are to see Sukriti among the top brands in herbal products worldwide.

 

What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?

Hmmm!!!! quite hard to say but definitely something related to nature, plants and the environment.
