Meet the Maker: Niharika & Aditya Bhargava – The Little Farm Co.
Meet Niharika & Aditya Bhargava, founders of The Little Farm Co., which they describe as “Handcrafted, farm fresh, traditional, clean, preservative and additive free food.”
The Little Farm Co. is born out of the farm to fork belief system. The farm to fork philosophy is one in which food production, processing, distribution, and consumption are integrated to enhance the nutritional health of the product. It’s a way of farming that The Little Farm Co is following by growing most of its raw material, plucking the fruits ripe just two hours before processing, and providing patrons healthy, farm fresh goodness.
When we asked Niharika Bhargava of The Little Farm Co to describe her venture in 10 or less words, this is how she responded, “Handcrafted, farm fresh, traditional, clean, preservative and additive free food.” This appealed to us and made us want to invest a few more words in acquainting ourselves (and you) better with the things and ideas that drive Niharaika and Co at The Little Farm Co.
Why did you choose to do what you do?
Our market survey indicated that most products (pickles) available in the market today are made using mechanized processes. As if that’s not bad enough, they’re also stuffed with additives and preservatives to extend the shelf life. These products do not have the same appeal or taste as hand-made/home-made pickles do. And neither are they healthy. Our endeavor is to provide customers with pickles that are farm fresh and additive-free. We use traditional recipes and fresh ingredients. This ensures our pickles taste like they used to in the good old days.
What were you doing before you started doing this?
Mr. Vikram Bhargava (who found all the hidden recipes) is a businessman with a passion for picking and farming. I come from a marketing background. We are the heart and soul of The Little Farm Co.
Which are your best selling products?
What kind of people do you create your products for?
People like you. People who are looking for fresh, homemade, old goodies and don’t have the time and ancient recipes to make them. The Little Farm Co is here for you.
What are the challenges you face in connection with achieving your goals?
For us, only one challenge remains, which we are hoping to overcome by the end of 2017. We are currently working to replace synthetic vinegar with vinegar made from sugarcane juice and have tied up with a local producer of sugarcane for the same.
Where do you see your brand three years from now?
We see our brand being certified organic. We see many more product lines. We see ourselves helping our customers make their cooking as natural as possible. Finally, we see ourselves extending our ability to reach more customers
Finally, what would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?
Oh, I love good, healthy food. I’m pretty sure I’d have been doing something food-related. Bon appétit!
