Tilt is based out of Mumbai and are a team of two young, dynamic, and hardworking women – Riddhi Gandhi and Saivi Suchdev. We spoke to Riddhi and Saivi to get to know Tilt better. What were you doing before you started doing this?
After receiving formal education and training in design, we worked with various agencies and corporates – leading their design teams. We now come with a solid experience of 7-8 years behind us as graphic and User Interface (UI) designers in this industry.
Why did you choose to do what you do?
Since we have been part of the design industry for long, last December we decided to take the leap and start our own company to meet with our dreams and passion of designing chic and premium stationery at affordable prices.
We are fascinated by names. What’s the story behind your brand name?
‘Tilt’ for us is an inclination to a path that both of us as designers wanted to explore outside our jobs. The word came up in one of our initial conversations, while we were discussing this as a business idea and immediately stuck with us. Thus we are ‘Tilt – A New Slant!’
Which are your best selling products?
Our ‘Made of Stories’ and ‘Killer Ideas Set’ notebooks are our top sellers currently.
What kind of people do you create your products for?
We are looking to add a pinch of happiness to every desk and workspace – that one personal space in your entire workplace, home or studio that brings you a sense of comfort and confidence. So, essentially we are creating products for young professionals, college students, stationery hoarders, and for anyone who has an eye for minimal yet chic, aesthetic, and affordable design.
What are the challenges you face in connection with achieving your goals?
The biggest challenge for us right now is that we are a newly launched, upcoming brand with a range of excellent products at affordable prices, albeit with limited reach.
Where do you see your brand three years from now?
For us, Tilt is always going to be about constant innovation to create functional stationery and lifestyle products, while maintaining high quality standards. In 3 years from now, we would want to hold a strong ground in the stationery, giftng, design, and lifestyle products industry. We want to be known as a reputed, trusted, go-to brand in this category or categories. We see ourselves venturing into customised and corporate gifting. Our goal is to be the provider of 360 degree solutions for all kinds of design needs, including custom wedding invitations, gift hampers, branding and web design, and the like.
What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?
Hailing from a creative background and having an inclination and bias towards all things pretty and good looking, we reckon that if not Tilt we would have continued to work and contribute our bit in the field of design as graphic designers with agencies, freelancers or any other way we could make this world a prettier place to live in for everyone!
